Terms of Service

Welcome to Route On Time. These Terms of Service ("Terms", "Agreement") govern your access to and use of the Route On Time mobile application (the "App") and the website https://routeontime.com (the "Website"), operated by Route On Time ("Company", "we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App or Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the App or Website.
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. They contain important information about your legal rights, including a binding arbitration provision and class action waiver in Section 16.
1. Acceptance of Terms
1.1 Agreement: By creating an account, accessing or using the App, you represent and warrant that you: (a) are at least 13 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher); (b) have the legal capacity and authority to enter into a binding agreement; (c) are not prohibited from using the App under applicable laws; and (d) have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
1.2 Organization Use: If you are using the App on behalf of an organization (company, employer, etc.), you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" includes both you individually and that organization.
1.3 Additional Terms: Certain features of the App may be subject to additional terms and conditions, which are incorporated by reference into these Terms. In the event of a conflict, the additional terms will prevail for those features.
2. Description of Service
Route On Time is a trip-timing and commute insights application designed to help you arrive on time. We do not provide turn-by-turn navigation; we focus on leave windows, alerts, and insights. The App provides:
- Real-time traffic information: Current traffic conditions used to adjust leave windows and travel time estimates
- Smart Leave notifications: Intelligent departure alerts based on real-time traffic conditions
- Trip analytics: Reliability metrics, travel time insights, time savings, environmental impact estimates, and historical performance data
- Gamification and achievements: Earn XP, badges, streaks, and level progression based on trip activity
- Trip management: Create and manage trips, favorite locations, and trip history
- Premium features: Route On Time Pro subscription unlocks unlimited trips, recurring trip scheduling, smart leave notifications, advanced analytics, full trip history, and saved location management
Third-Party Dependencies: The App relies on third-party services including Google Maps Platform and Mapbox for mapping, geocoding, and traffic data. Service availability, accuracy, and performance may vary based on your location, device capabilities, network connectivity, and third-party service availability.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation: To access certain features of the App, you must create an account using a valid email address or third-party authentication service (e.g., Google Sign-In). You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information as necessary.
3.2 Account Security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials, including your password. You agree to: (a) immediately notify us of any unauthorized access or use of your account; (b) not share your account credentials with others; and (c) not use another person's account without permission. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account information.
3.3 One Account Per User: You may not create or maintain multiple accounts, share your account with others, or transfer your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this provision without notice.
3.4 Account Information: You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account. If you suspect unauthorized use of your account, contact us immediately at hello@routeontime.com.
4. License and Restrictions
4.1 Limited License: Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App on your personal mobile device solely for your personal, non-commercial use. This license does not include any right to modify, distribute, sell, or commercially exploit the App.
4.2 Restrictions: You agree not to, and will not permit others to:
- Copy, modify, adapt, translate, distribute, sell, lease, rent, or sublicense any part of the App
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App
- Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
- Use the App for any illegal, unauthorized, or harmful purpose
- Interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on the App's servers, networks, or infrastructure
- Use automated systems, bots, scrapers, crawlers, or similar tools to access the App
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the App, other accounts, or connected systems
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features of the App
- Use the App to collect, harvest, or store personal information about others
- Use the App in a manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the service
- Use the App for competitive analysis, benchmarking, or to build a competing product or service
5. Location and Calendar Services
5.1 Location Access: The App's core functionality requires access to your device's location services. By using the App, you grant us permission to collect, process, and store your location data as described in our Privacy Policy. You understand that location data is essential to providing trip timing, departure alerts, and reliability insights.
5.2 Background Location: Certain features (Smart Leave notifications, trip reliability tracking) require background location access to function when the App is not in active use. You can control background location permissions through your device settings, but disabling background location will limit these features.
5.3 Accuracy Disclaimer: Location data, traffic information, travel time estimates, and timing suggestions are provided by third-party services and are based on various factors including GPS accuracy, traffic data, and algorithmic predictions. We cannot guarantee and make no warranty that such information will be accurate, complete, reliable, or current. You acknowledge that actual travel times may differ significantly from estimates.
5.4 Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for your decisions regarding travel times and departure timing. The App provides suggestions and estimates only; you should always allow additional time for unexpected delays.
5.5 Calendar Integration: If you enable calendar permissions, the App will access your device's calendar to identify potential conflicts and suggest departure times. This processing happens locally on your device. You retain full control over which calendars are synced and can revoke permission at any time in your device settings.
6. Subscriptions and Payments
6.1 Route On Time Pro: Premium features are available through a paid subscription ("Route On Time Pro"). Subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and are subject to their respective terms and conditions, which are incorporated by reference.
6.2 Pricing and Billing: Subscription fees are clearly displayed before purchase and may vary by region and currency. You will be charged through your app store account at the start of each billing period (monthly or annually). Prices are subject to change; we will notify you of price changes in advance. Price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing period.
6.3 Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage subscriptions and turn off auto-renewal through your app store account settings.
6.4 Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your app store account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until the end of your paid period. We do not provide partial refunds for unused portions of subscription periods.
6.5 Free Trial: We may offer free trial periods for new subscribers. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will be automatically charged for the subscription. Free trial eligibility is determined at our sole discretion and may be limited to one per user, household, or payment method.
6.6 Refunds: All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Refund requests must be submitted directly to the respective app store according to their refund policies. We do not directly process refunds.
6.7 Feature Changes: We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove features included in subscriptions. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes to subscription features.
7. User Content and Data
7.1 Your Data: You retain all ownership rights to the data you input into the App (routes, schedules, preferences, on-time departure indicators, location history) and the activity data it generates (trip history, analytics, and gamification progress). By using the App, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, store, process, and display this data solely for the purpose of providing, improving, and personalizing the service for you.
7.2 Backup Responsibility: While we implement measures to protect and backup your data, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important information. We are not liable for any loss, corruption, or deletion of your data, whether due to technical failures, service discontinuation, or any other cause.
7.3 Data Deletion: You may delete your account and request deletion of all associated data at any time through Settings {'>'} Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Certain data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.
7.4 Aggregated Data: We may use aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified data derived from your use of the App for analytics, research, service improvement, and other purposes. Such data will not identify you personally.
7.5 Gamification Features: XP, levels, badges, streaks, and achievements are provided for informational and motivational purposes only. They have no cash value, are not transferable, and may be modified, reset, or discontinued at any time.
7.6 Social Sharing: When you share trip details, achievements, or other content from the App to third-party platforms (e.g., social media, messaging apps), you are solely responsible for the content you share and the privacy implications of sharing such information publicly. We are not responsible for how third parties handle your shared data.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 Ownership: The App, including all content, features, functionality, design, code, graphics, logos, icons, and documentation, is owned by Route On Time and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
8.2 Trademarks: "Route On Time," the Route On Time logo, and related marks are trademarks or registered trademarks of Route On Time. You may not use these marks without our prior written permission. Other product names and logos displayed in the App may be trademarks of their respective owners.
8.3 Third-Party Content: The App incorporates content from third-party providers, including map data, traffic information, and satellite imagery. Such content is the property of its respective owners and is subject to their terms of use. You may not extract, reproduce, or redistribute third-party content.
